SAMBA, Sept 18: The pall of gloom has descended the villages of Shibu Chak in Bishnah tehsil of Jammu district and Sarwa hamlet in Ramgarh tehsil of Samba district after receiving the news that two valiant soldiers of these two villages were among the 17 jawans of Indian Army who were killed in ever dreaded terrorist attack at Brigade Headquarters in Uri tehsil of North Kashmir district of Baramulla early this morning.
As the family of Havaldar Ravi Paul of 10 Dogra received the message from one of the brothers of Ravi who is also serving in Army they were totally stunned. First, the family members could not believe it as they had never dreamt that they will hear such shocking news. However, after confirming the news from Army the entire family went in shock with wife of Ravi Paul, Geeta Rani and mother Malvi Devi were seen sobbing and wailing.
The two sons of Ravi who are of 11 and seven years of age remained stunned after seeing a huge crowd of people rushing to their residence in grief with tears yelling from their eyes. These two little boys could not understand what tragedy has befallen them.
The villagers tried their best to console the wife, mother and other family members but could not and Havaldar Ravi’s wife also went in shock.
Ravi who as per family sources was posted at Uri for over last one and half year had joined the family on leave over two months back. He had left with the promise to return with some gifts for his children and other family members from Kashmir after his regiment is shifted from there in September but every thing turned a dream for them now as the family has to bear with reality of life and muster enough courage to receive the body wrapped in Tricolour.
Forty two year old Havaldar Ravi has six brothers out of whom, three are serving in Army. His one brother has attained superannuation from Army recently.
Ravi’s nephew Pardeep said he was a gentle and sober person who had no grudge with any body. He often used to tell his colleagues that a soldier does not know when and where the bullet hits him. But lucky are those soldiers who receive the bullet on their chest and not at back in the battle field.
Naib Subedar Karnail Singh S/o Nand Lal also belonging to 10 Dogra is another valiant soldier from Jammu region who attained the martyrdom while serving the nation at frontiers of Uri early this morning in the deadliest terrorist attack.
Naib Subedar Singh is survived by his mother Ratna, wife Geeta Devi and three children Anmol, Arun and Shibam and a brother. His eldest son Anmol is a student of Part-I, while second son, Arun is student of Class 11th and the third son Shibam is a student of class first. He had visited his residence in December.
Only yesterday Karnail Singh had informed his family members that the advance party of his regiment has reached Pathankot and he will be visiting within a day or so. But a great tragedy has befallen on the family which was eagerly waiting for him and they never expected that instead of hugging Karnail Singh they will receive his dead body wrapped in the Tricolour.
A jawan of his regiment was deputed from Pathankot to his house to inform the family about the sad news. However the relatives of Karnail Singh and the villagers asked him to remain silent till tomorrow morning but after the soldier received calls of his superiors from his regiment, he was forced to disclose the same to the family in the evening.
Soon after the news broke hundreds of villagers, relatives and friends of Karnail Singh rushed to his residence in a state of shock.
