JAMMU, May 29: ABVP has urged the Union Government to implement NEET in all educational institutions including minority institutions of the country to make the medical entrance examinations fully transparent.
A resolution to this effect was tabled in the three day National Executive meet of ABVP which started here today. This was stated at a press briefing by ABVP national secretaries including Nikhil Ranjan, P Suresh, Kishore Barman, national Media incharge Kiran Kulkarni and Tejasvini, NEC member of the organization at the side lines of the NE meet this afternoon.
Opposing commercialization of education in the country, the ABVP leaders said thousands of students are deprived of higher education because of wide spread corruption in professional education.
They said in the name of privatization, commercialization of primary to higher education has taken place in past two decades and the private educational institutions and universities have mushroomed during this period and they exploit the students by taking a hefty fee.
Holding lack of proper Central laws responsible for commercialization, corruption and communalization of education, they said the recent decision of Apex Court has given an opportunity to the Government to reform the entire system. The ABVP draft resolution pledges not to rest till freeing education system from KG to PG level from commercialization.
Through the proposed draft resolution, the Union Government was asked to bring comprehensive laws to weed out corruption and commercialization of education in the country.
Through another resolution which was tabled in the meet, the ABVP stressed on awareness about social sensitization be included in the curriculum of universities and major reforms should be introduced in university administration. It also demanded that to make universities a centre for nation building and social change, sufficient funds be provided by the Union Government. Through the resolution an appeal was also made to the student community to ensure their positive role in making the universities capable and competent in modern context.
Through another resolution which was tabled today, the ABVP demanded that the recommendation made by Parliamentary Committee regarding reconstitution of MCI and DCI be implemented in letter and spirit to free MCI and DCI from money and muscle power.
They said the three day long ABVP NE meet started here this morning which was inaugurated by national president of the organization, Prof Nagesh Thakur, national general secretary, Vinay Bidray and national organizational secretary, Sunil Ambekar.
Over 400 delegates from all over India are participating in the meet.
In his address Prof Thakur said that ABVP is wedded to nation building. Seven resolutions will be tabled and discussed in the three days meet.
