JAMMU, Feb 25: Minister for Forests and Environment, Mian Altaf Ahmad today instructed the authorities of the Forest Department to expedite the process for disposal of project proposal cases pending with the department for forest clearance, particularly PMGSY and PWD roads of Kishtwar district.
The Minister was chairing an officers meeting convened to review the status of pending forest clearance in respect of various projects including roads taken up under PMGSY and PWD in District Kishtwar here today.
Minister of State for Industries and Commerce and Home Sajad Ahmad Kichloo, besides District Development Commissioner, Kishtwar Chief Conservator of Forests, Jammu, Superintending Engineer, R&B, Doda-Kishtwar, Conservator of Forests Chenab Valley, Divisional Forest Officers of Kishtwar and Marwah were also present in the meeting.
The Minister asked the concerned to ensure that the proposed projects don’t face delay due to forest clearance, adding that the development of roads and other core sector projects was imperative for socio-economic development of the people.
The Forest Minister instructed the Chief Conservator of Forests, Jammu to hold a meeting with executing agency of upcoming Rattle Hydro Power Project and finalize the catchment area treatment project. It was informed that the money for the treatment of catchment areas surrounding the hydropower project sites is provided by the executing agencies.
Minister of State for Industries and Commerce, Sajad Ahmad Kichloo stressed on early completion of Dachan and Padder roads, besides beautification of Kishtwar town by massive plantation and landscaping of the open spaces. He said the Government was committed to provide better road connectivity to the people of the State.
