JAMMU, Feb 11: The school playground of Army Public School, Dhar Road was filled with great zeal, excitement and frolicsome atmosphere as the school celebrated its 9th Annual Sports Day, here today.
The guests to grace the occasion were Col A K Sharma, Director AWES, Northern Command (AWES) and Officiating Chairman Col Manoj Arora, CO 131 AD Regiment. The Principals of the various schools and colleges and other dignitaries were also present.
The celebrations began with a lighting of the sports torch and march past by the NCC Girls scout, which was followed by the oath taking ceremony. Principal Ramma Raina, presented the Annual Report sharing the credentials and achievements of the school.
The students displayed a wide array of colorful and reverberant events in form of lazium. The formation of Olympic Rings in mash-up dance echoed the message of ‘Higher, Faster and Stronger’. The events filled the hearts of everyone with the spirit of sportsmanship and unity. Students mesmerised the audience with their energetic performance of Aerobics. The zealous parents constantly applauded the participants.
Students showcased their unity, understanding and will power in various form of sports activities and forming of human pyramid, which was an eye catching one.
The parents appreciated the hard work, dedication and confidence of those who participated in 100 mtrs sprint, 400 mtrs relay race. The astonishing moment, was the Maven performance, giving the message of shedding our differences and collaborating for national integration.
The House trophy was won by Chenab house and runner-up trophy was bagged by Jhelum house. Best Sportsperson of the year were Master Atul Sharma and Anjali Kumari. Diya Sharma and Master Vivek Joshi were declared as the most disciplined students of the year. Special facilitation was given to the Girls Badminton team.
Arti Sharma of class X was awarded with a cash prize for the outstanding performance at the National Wushu Championship by winning a Bronze medal for the state.
Muskan Gupta and Seema Kumari, who got 10 CGPA during the session 2015-16, were awarded with cash prize.
The teachers were also facilitated for their exemplary dedication and devotion with a cash prize.
Senior Coordinator, Rajeev Kumar Choudhary presented vote of thanks.
Principal, Ramma Raina, thanked everyone for the grand success of the mega event.
Sports day ended with National Anthem.
