“Parties with apple and bat symbols are working for BJP and are getting support from them; BJP should not make claims when it comes to J&K at least; what happened to Ravinder Raina who was ready to contest elections from the South Kashmir seat; what happened that left the ground and had to instead support others,” he said.
Abdullah said that even as the BJP has not fielded any of its candidates in Kashmir for the Lok Sabha polls, they are still in the fight through others.
“The Home Minister said that they are not in a hurry for the lotus to bloom in Kashmir; that means they are supporting the B and C teams. Their leaders come to Srinagar, where do they go and who do they meet; that should be enough to understand that they are in the contest, but they will not use their symbol; it will be apple, bat, but that will be BJP,” he said.
With regard to the contest in the Anantnag-Rajouri seat, Omar said that the BJP has got no chances of success there.
“They have no chances of success in south Kashmir. There, we do not have a contest with the BJP, we are fighting a person who was a friend and left us for a seat; we do not have a contest with BJP or their teams in south Kashmir.”
To a question of BJP making claims of securing over 400 seats during the elections, Omar said: “We will talk about ‘400-par’ on June 5; Whatever they will face in the county, that’s for later to be seen; Ladakh is out of their hands, Udhampur is also going the other way; Let’s see what happens in Jammu. For Kashmir, I am hopeful of winning all the 3 seats keeping in view the support we are getting.
Earlier, while addressing a gathering, Omar told people that if they want their interests to be safeguarded, then they must vote for Aga Syed Ruhullah.
“If we have to protect our identity, then Ruhullah has to emerge successful. If anyone can go and talk about people’s issues in Delhi, then he (Ruhullah) is the one,” he said.
He said that the people of Kashmir are not able to make use of electricity and other resources, which belong to them and instead the same is supplied to other States while the people are left to suffer.
“We are not even able to use our electricity, our roads, and other resources. Rivers belong to us, power projects belong to us, but for 40 years, we will have to supply electricity to Rajasthan. Are we producing this much electricity? We need someone who will talk in Delhi, raising issues of people,” he said.
