Srinagar, Apr 29 : Police today arrested an independent candidate contesting Parliamentary elections from Anantnag-Rajouri Parliamentary constituency for sexually abusing a minor. However, he was later released on bail.
Earlier, this morning Principal District and Sessions Judge Anantnag issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Imran Ahmad Sheikh who is contesting elections as independent candidate from Anantnag-Rajouri Parliamentary constituency.
A case has been registered against Sheikh under POSCO Act in Police Station Mattan. He has been accused of sexually exploiting a minor girl.
He was produced before a magistrate who granted him bail. He was later released from custody.
