JAMMU, Aug 12: A meeting of the experts committee of Jammu and Kashmir Ex Services League (JKESL) was held here today to discuss the modalities and finalise the demands to be putforth to the One Man Commission appointed by Government of India to examine the anomalies as pointed out by the various ESM organisations in the implementation orders issued by the Government while granting the One Rank One Pension (OROP) to the ESM.
Various ESM organisations had been resenting the Government decision to dilute the definition of OROP as approved by the Parliament twice on recommendation of Koshiyari Committee appointed by the UPA Govt, agreed upon and ordered by the UPA Government. Even the Prime Minister himself and the BJP manifesto promised the same, based on which the veterans supported the formation of BJP led Government both at Centre and in coalition in J&K.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of JKESL president Maj Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal, ex-MLC. All members unanimously held the firm opinion that there should be no dilution of the basic approved definition of OROP, viz “All retirees in the same rank and with same length of service should get the same pension irrespective of the date of retirement; and the benefits of future increases should automatically pass on to all such retirees”.
After thorough discussions a final agreement was arrived for a joint memorandum to be presented to Justice Reddy Commission who is scheduled to visit Jammu on the 19th of Aug 2016 to interact with the services veterans.
The meeting was attended by Director Rajya Sainik Board Brig Harcharan Singh, Brig RL Sharma former Station Commander Jammu, Brig Anil Gupta Former Director J&K NCC, Col K S Jamwal, Jt Chairman JKESL (WHO), Col Virendra K Sahi, VrC Director The War Decorated India for J&K, Col Rajinder Singh, Gen Secy, Lt Col DS Salaria Treasurer JKESL, Lt Col KS Samyal OIC Pension Cell, Lt Col MS Jamwal and Maj JS Baloria Finance Secretary JKESL (WHO).
