Glowing tributes paid to Girdhari Lal Dogra

JAMMU, Nov 27: Glowing tributes were paid to former Finance Minister and veteran Congress leader, Girdhari Lal Dogra on his 26th death anniversary here today.
In this regard various functions were organized at different places in the City of Temples to recall his services to the State.
The main function was held at Dogra Chowk here which was organized by Girdhari Lal Dogra Memorial Trust. The function was attended by people from all walks of life and leaders of different political organizations. They paid their tributes to late leader and garlanded his statue.
The prominent among those who attended the function and paid floral tributes to Dogra included, Minister of Housing, Horticulture and Culture, Raman Bhalla, Minister of Cooperatives, Dr Manohar Lal, BJP MP and National president, BJYM Anurag Thakur, daughters of Girdhari Lal Dogra including Sangeeta Jaitley, wife of Arun Jaitley, leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, former Deputy Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma, BJP Legislative Party leader Ashok Khajuria,  MLA Choudhary Sukhnandan, MLC Ravinder Sharma, NC provincial president Devender Singh Rana, former MP and senior Congress leader Dharam Paul Sharma, former president of BJP, Shamsher Singh Manhas, BJP National Executive Member and chief spokesperson of the State, Dr Jitendra Singh, Kr. Vikramaditya Singh, senior Congress leader Th. Hari Singh and others. They all paid the glowing tributes to late leader and highlighted his contributions and selfless services to the people of the State.
On the occasion free diabetes and multi specialty medical check up camp was organized under the supervision of Dr Jitendra Singh, senior Diabetologist in which over 100 patients suffering from various diseases were examined by a penal of doctors including physician, eye specialist, orthopedist and Physio therapist.
On the occasion a free blood sugar and free medicines were distributed among patients. The Trust appreciated the efforts of the team of Dr Singh who is every year organizing the camp on the occasion.
On the occasion a book “The People and Man” a biography of Girdhari Lal Dogra, written and complied by Geeta Shahby was also released.
Another function was organized by Pradesh Congress Committee at PCC Headquarters, Shaheedi Chowk here in which senior Party leaders paid floral tributes to late leader and remembered him for his services.
The function was presided over by Pt. Dharam Paul Sharma, ex MP while Th Hari Singh, S Gurmukh Singh, Janak Raj Gupta, ex MP, Ravinder Sharma, MLC, Indu Pawar, MLA, Vinod Sharma , Kanta Bhan, Girdhari Lal Chalotra -ex Minister, S  R Sudir, K L Gupta,  Th Manmohan Singh, Chuni Lal Bhat, Shiv Kumar Sharma, president INTUC, Thakur Narinder Singh ex Mayor and D S Langeh were present.
Paying rich tributes to Dogra the senior Congress leaders described Mr Dogra as a tallest leader of his time who firmly believed and followed secularism in true spirit and fought against the communal and divisive forces in the State. They said the late leader stood like a rock against the fundamentalist, separatist and secretarian who were trying to weaken the unity and integrity of the country.
Former Minister, Thakur Randhir Singh and State president, NCP also paid glowing tributes to Mr Dogra at Dogra Chowk. He presented an old group photograph of former Council of Ministers along with Chief Minister G M Sadiq and  Dogra to his daughters, Nidhi and Sangeeta Jaitley.
