NEW DELHI, Oct 13: Haryana Minister for Commerce & Industries, Vipul Goel donated here today an amount of Rs.2.58 crore for the funds to be utilized for public service. The Minister handed over two cheques to Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh as contribution of Rs.1.58 crore towards “Clean Ganga Fund” and Rs.1 crore towards “Prime Minister’s Relief Fund”, respectively.
Appreciating the noble gesture of Vipul Goel, Dr Jitendra Singh said, he has set an example for others in public life to follow. He said, the amount which is possible to be raised through different sources by public representatives, can be best utilized for donation to funds meant for the nation’s priority programmes.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, while “Clean Ganga Fund” is dedicated to the noble cause of cleaning the Holy River Ganga, the “Prime Minister’s Relief Fund” helps in offering timely aid to the poor, the needy,the sick and those affected by natural calamities.
Vipul Goel thanked Dr Jitendra Singh for having motivated him to raise these funds for transparent utilization in social work. He said, he has also been organizing programmes at different places in his constituency to help the needy and the poor.
Dr Jitendra Singh also informed Vipul Goel that, inspired by the Clean Ganga Project, River Devika cleaning project has been taken up in his constituency at Udhampur under National River Conservation Project (NRCP) at a budget of Rs.186.74 crore, which will address both the environmental concerns as well as people’s faith in the Holy River. In addition, he said, he had also felt inspired to raise from voluntary sources, an amount of nearly Rs. 70 lakh which has been contributed in the form of cheque to reconstruct the villages washed out due to heavy rainfall and landslides during the 2014 floods in his constituency. Efforts are going on, he said, to motivate further funds for this cause through CSR budgets and other sources.
