SRINAGAR, June 22: High Court today directed the authorities to take action in accordance with law against those who have encroached the Kahcharie land in outskirts of Srinagar city.
The court of Justice Sudhakar Ramalingam was hearing a petition in which direction has been sought to the officials of Revenue Department to evict the land mafia from the illegal encroachments over and upon the Kahcharie land.
Justice Ramalingam directed the concerned revenue authorities to consider the nature of complaint and take action in the matter. ” In view of the relief sought by the petitioner, Tehsildar Hazratbal, Srinagar is directed to consider the nature of complaint filed by the petitioner and take action in the matter in accordance with law as expeditiously as possible”, court directed.
Court has been informed that the land in question is wholly and solely a State land and illegal and unauthorized constructions are being raised by some miscreants upon the kahcharie land.
The case projected by the petitioner was that the Kahcharie Land in various survey numbers mentioned in the writ petition are grabbed by mafia who claimed to be the owners of the land and putting up construction on it while as the information sought through RTI reveals that the land is not a private property but a patch of Kahcharie land.
Petitioner also submitted that another piece of Kahcharie land comprising of 194 Kanals and 07 Marlas situated at estate Bhagat Shura Srinagar has been occupied by the land Mafia without having any right over the property. The petitioner approached the officials of Revenue Department for taking necessary action against the land mafia in order to evict them from the land but unfortunately they failed to discharge their Statutory duty for the reasons best known to them resulting into filing of the instant petition for redressal of his grievances as well as public at large.
