Historic Mughal road closed due to snowfall, Leh & Kashmir highways through

SRINAGAR: The historic Mughal road was closed due to snowfall, while the national highways connecting Ladakh with Kashmir and Valley with rest of the country were through despite rain.
There was snowfall at Pir-Ki-Gali and other areas on Mughal road, linking Shopian in south Kashmir with Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu region, a traffic police official said.
He said traffic from both sides has been closed as a precautionary measure. However, authorities from both sides have put into service sophisticated machines to clear the snow.
The decision to resume traffic on the road, which is seen as alternative to Srinagar-Jammu national highway, will be taken only after receiving green signal from traffic and other officials posted at different places.
However, despite rain, the Srinagar-Jammu national highway, linking the Valley with rest of the country and the Srinagar-Leh national highway, connecting Ladakh and Kashmir, were through for traffic. (AGENCIES)
