JAMMU, June 29: State president of the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) and provincial president of Water Works (PHE) Employees Association for Jammu, Shiv Kumar Sharma today demanded implementation of 7th Pay Commission report in the J&K State.
Addressing a meeting of the PHE workers at Narwal Balla (Transport Nagar) Pumping Station here today, the INTUC leader projected various pending issues of the PHE workers and employees and urged upon the State authorities to address the same without any more delay. He said that many employees are facing stagnation as no DPC was conducted since long.
The trade union leader strongly demanded that daily wagers of all categories be regularised by framing a definite policy and their pending wages be released. He said there should be provision of job for a family member of the deceased daily wager. Moreover left out daily rated workers be included in the lists. The daily wagers be provided regular wages and donar workers be provided wages at the rate of Rs 350 per day.
The INTUC leader strongly urged upon the State Government to implement 7th Pay Commission recommendations in the State without any further delay as the Central Govt has announced it today. He also criticized the higher authorities for ignoring the basic issues of the employees. He said if the Government failed to address the issues of the workers, the Association would intensify the agitation by holding district level protests and dharnas.
Prominent among others present in the meeting included Ajay Sharma, Raman Kumar, Naresh Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Mangal Dass, Rampal Saini, Subash Chander, Ravi Kumar, Madan Lal, Radhey Sham, Avtar Singh, Vijay Gupta, Joginder Pal and Jyoti Parkash.
