NEW DELHI, Oct 16: The artists of Jammu & Kashmir created a history today by making it to the Ist International Folk Dance and Music Festival, organized by Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India at Kamani Auditorium, New Delhi.
A 15 member group from the State of J&K presented mesmerizing twelve dance numbers representing the rich dance traditions of Jammu and Kashmir.
Giving details of the festival, Regional Director of ICCR Jammu Balwant Thakur informed that the six countries, which featured in the festival, included Hungary, Israel, India Russia, Poland, and UK.  The most noteworthy feature was that India was represented by the State of Jammu and Kashmir, he said adding that Artists community of Jammu & Kashmir deserves kudos for making it to the first ever International Folk Dance and Music festival organized by ICCR.
The  International Folk Dance and Music festival opened on October 13, with the performances of Csillagszemu (Starry-Eyed) Dance Ensemble of Hungary and followed by mind-blowing presentations by Yemen Blues group (Israel). On day two Cossak Folk Group ‘Satanitsa of Russia presented vibrant Russian dances.
J&K group presented twelve items which included Rouff, Haziz Nagma, Bach Nagma, Dhambali, Geetru, Kudd, Phumania, Jagarna, Zabroo (Ladakhi), Gojari, Pahari, and Bhadarwahi dances.
The proud artists who created a history for the State of Jammu & Kashmir, included Sajra Qadir, Damanpreet Kaur, Aarti Verma, Gurmeet Kaur, Sunakshi Ganotra, Suhasini Antaal, Srijna Bhasin, Shaina Sharma, Bindia, Rupali Rai,  Sunny Mujoo, Deepak Kumar, Saloni Verma, Neetan Kumar and Rakesh Kona.
