Jammu, Nov 25: Prof. Virender Gupta, president of Jammu State Morcha while welcoming the decision of Union Tourism Ministry and the Railway Ministery to have glass-encased panoramic view coaches of world class standard with first class facilities for the train that shall apply along Qazigund-Baramulla route stated that Jammu region too have scenic beauty along the railway track that leads to Udhampur, Katra and shall connect to Srinagar.
In a statement issued here today he said, the tourists may like to enjoy landscape of the route that consists of high mountains covered by snow, rivers, springs and green flushed fields, long tunnels and bridges at high altitudes. The journey in a train shall be more stimulating, exciting and adventurous in glass-encased panoramic view coaches.
He said it is a matter of great concern that people of Jammu region are victims not only of the discriminatory policies of Kashmir dominated successive State Governments but also the indifferent attitude of the Government of India. Jammu State Morcha had made a representation to the Ministry of Railways, about four months back for introducing the coaches identical to those at present operating in the Valley for Pathankot -Jammu – Udhampur local trains and asked for immediate start of laying railway line between Jammu to Poonch, he added.
It also represented the case of establishment of Railway Coach Factory in Jammu region as was promised on the floor of the House and opening of zonal office of Railways at Jammu. But so far no positive response from the Railway Department has been received, he said.
Prof. Gupta said JSM is of the view that people of Jammu region have to stand up and start a mass movement against the Kashmiri domination and against the Government of India for ignoring them in all matters, if they have to get justice and lead a honorable and dignified life.
