UDHAMPUR, Sept 21: The members of Latti Development Committee (LDC) strongly took up the local issues related to worst condition of Latti-Dudu-Basantgarh road besides other issues of public concern with the Governor’s Advisor, K Vijay Kumar here today.
The LDC members led by its chairman, Kasturi Lal Gupta and three local former Sarpanches and other prominent persons of the area during meeting expressed serious concern over very slow pace of work on 43 kms Man Talai-Latti-Dudu Road for which the funds worth Rs 52 crore were sanctioned by the Union Minister Nitin Gadkari last year. They said that earth work on first 5 kms was allotted by R&B for 8.5 mt wide road but till today half of the earth work could not be completed. Surprisingly, next 15 kms work is being allotted by PMGSY to some agency and they have reduced the width of the road to 6 Mts. There is strong resentment among the local people over the issue. They also demanded to expedite work on Dudu-Seoj-Bhaderwah road, Bandole Pattangarh, Challas-Napah and other two PMGSY roads in the area.
They further demanded setting up of Munsiff Court and Degree College at Latti, construction of Yatri Bhawan for Kailash pilgrims at base camp Dudu, two bridges over river Tawi, promotion of tourism in the area and inclusion of Marothi and other adjoining Panchayats in Latti Police jurisdiction as Chenani Thana is far away from these places and public faces lot of problems. They also demanded to provide some relief to the people of Latti Tehsil by connecting them with Chenani court which is hardly 55 kms away otherwise, they have to move to Ramnagar court which is nearly 115 kms away and people have to cross Chenani and Udhampur to reach there for any legal matter.
Ex-Sarpanches Latti Hans Raj and Beant Gupta, Piyush Manhas, Daleep Kumar and Mohd Rafiq also accompanied the delegation.
