JAMMU, Dec 17: In connection with ongoing Kaifi Azmi’s birth centenary celebrations being held worldwide, noted Urdu poet of State, Dr Liaqat Jafri is going to represent Jammu and Kashmir in Kuwait in an International Urdu Mushaira (poetic meet) titled “Yaadgaar e Kaifi Azmi” on December 21.
Author of half a dozen books in Urdu, Dr Jafri belongs to Poonch and presently, he is working in Higher Education Department and posted in Urdu Department of Govt College for Women, Gandhi Nagar Jammu. He is also associated with Bollywood and has been writing lyrics for a number of upcoming film projects of reputed banners under T-Series, Zee Music and Sony etc.
Recipient of few national awards for his outstanding contributions in the field of poetry, prose, theatre, journalism, film and Urdu activism, Liaqat Jafri is a noted Critic/ Reviewer Teacher and Research Scholar as well.
Earlier also on invitation of various literary organizations and Indian Embassy, he had participated in series of International Urdu Mushairas held in Doha Qattar, Riyadh, Jaddah, Dammam, Jubail Sharjah and Dubai.
