JAMMU, Nov 22: The annual Athletic Meet and Fancy Dress Competition was held today in MHAC School, Nagbani.
The function commenced with the Vedic Mantra Uccharan and lighting of the torch by best athletes of 2013– Aditi Uppal, Sakshi Koul, Kajal Singh and Yashpaul Tinku. It was followed by an impressive march past presented by all the athletes of the school.
Chief guest, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau, Director Sports, University of Jammu, declared the sports meet open.
Athletes of IX to XII classes competed in 200 m, 600 m and 2 x 200 m Relay races. The winners broke many earlier records of time taken to complete the races. Class 1st – 6th students participated in various fun races.
The colourful fancy dress was held in which the tiny-tots mesmerized the audience. The themes of the Fancy Dress Competition were characters of Ramayan, Mahabharat, Om Namoh Shivaya, Bollywood stars, brides and grooms of different states and historical characters.
In senior group, Yashpal Tinku (12th C) of Gulab House, Aditi Uppal (11th A) of Gulab House and in pre-Senior Group, Kajal Singh (10th E) of Amar House and Sakshi Koul (10th C) of Gulab House won the title of Best Athletes of the session 2014-15.
Gulab House bagged the Overall trophy with 230 points for the session 2014-15.
The chief guest distributed prizes among the students who excelled in various sports and co-curricular activities.
