LEH, July 29: Spiritual leader Dalai Lama today said that resolving the Zanskar region Muslim-Buddhist conflict was his biggest achievement during Ladakh visit this time and he was able to solve the conflict as both the communities agreed to resolve the issue amicably which was very much important for communal harmony and prosperity of the region.
He said this while laying the foundation stone for Learning Centre and Libraray at Thiksay Sherab Skitsal-Ling this morning.
The learning Centre project worth Rs 4 crore will have library, hostel and seminar hall.
This will be one its unique kind centre where different religion and faith believers can come and learn, debates and discuss various issues.
Dalai Lama, in his speech, said that this learning centre will not only be a religious place but a common platform for all faith to debate, learn and discuss. Stressing the need for maintaining secular ethics, Dalai Lama said that communal harmony is essence of life and all leaders and religious heads should strengthen the bonding between each other as other differences are temporary.
The head Lama of Thiksay Monastery Skyabje Thiksay Khanpo Rinpoche, while briefing about the learning Centre project, said that as per the guidance of Dalai Lama, this project has been started, which he hopes to become a happening place for different faiths and religion.
On the occasion, Hill Council Chairman Dorjay Motup, MP Thupstan Chhewang, MLA Chering Dorje, CLP Leader MLA Nawang Rigzin Jora, LBA president Tsewang Thinles and LGA president Shatup Chamba also spoke. All the speakers expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Dalai Lama for blessing the people of Ladakh by visiting different regions of Ladakh.
Meanwhile LAHDC Leh l and District Administration jointly hosted a luncheon in honour of Dalai Lama at Sindhu Ghat Shey, here today.
Drikung Skyabgon Chetsang Rinpochey, Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Dorjey Motup, MP Ladakh Thupstan Chhewang, MLA Leh Nawang Rigzin Jora, MLC Leh Chering Dorjey, Deputy Commissioner Leh, Avny Lavasa, Lama Lobzang, heads of religious, social and political organizations, intellectuals, scholars, Executive Councilors,Tsering Wangdus, Tsering Samdup, Gyal P Wangyal and Mumtaz Hussain, Councilors, district officers and Doctors were present on the occasion.
On the occasion, artists representing different regions and communities of Ladakh presented a mind-blowing folk singing program in honor of Dalai Lama.
