JAMMU, May 2: Reiterating the commitment of the present coalition government to provide improved and better sports infrastructural facilities to the people of the state, Minister of State for Youth Services and Sports, Sunil Sharma said that development of basic sports infrastructure will remain priority of the government.
The Minster stated this during a review meeting of youth services and sports department here at Doda today.
Stressing on tapping the sports potential of youth in Chenab Valley, the Minister said that government is taking all measures for developing the requisite infrastructure and logistic facilities to provide conducive environment to nurture the hidden talent of the sports persons in rural areas.
He directed, the youth services and sports officer Doda to identify about twenty schools especially in the far flung areas of the district, for developing playgrounds which would help a lot for exploring and development of sports talent among the children living in these areas, which remain untapped in absence of adequate facilities and training.
Taking a review of the department the Minister directed the concerned officers to work with dedication and put in sincere efforts, so that the aim of the department to cater to the overall personality development of school children is achieved adding that department has an important role in promoting sports, extracurricular activities besides encouraging youth in various social activities at national and international level.
Meanwhile various delegations from Chenab Valley also met the Minister and apprised him of their demands and grievances The Minister after giving a patient hearing assured the delegations that their genuine demands and grievances would be redressed in a phased manner.
