UDHAMPUR, Oct 30: A young shopkeeper was found dead in Irrigation water canal at village Reasa Mongerli, Kaimbal Danga, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Rehambal, here today.
According to the police, the deceased was identified as Arjun Kumar alias Biru (29), son of Puran Chand Kerni, resident of village Reasa Mongerli Panchayat Kaimbal Danga Udhampur. He was missing for the last two days and today his body was found from Irrigation water canal at village Reasa Mongerli.
The body was spotted by some locals, who immediately called the police following which SHO Rehambal Pushpinder Singh along with Police team rushed to the spot. Police shifted the dead body to District Hospital Udhampur. After the postmortem and other legal formalities, the body was handed over to family members of the deceased.
Rehambal Police have registered the case under 174 CrPC and started further investigation. The preliminary investigations reveal that the deceased was mentally upset for the past some time and he had also remained admitted in Psychiatric hospital Jammu for treatment.
