10 milch animals rescued, one held

RAMBAN, July 27: The drive against bovine smugglers continued as the police arrested a person along with 10 milch animals, which he was carrying towards Valley by foot from the mountainous Gool area of the district.
As per police sources, on specific information, police team from Khari police post laid a naka at Mahu Mangat track and intercepted a person carrying flock of bovines.
During questioning, the person failed to give satisfactory reply and was arrested by the police for smuggling bovines. Police rescued 10 bovines from the possession of the accused.
The accused has been identified as Abdul Rehman, son of Gulam Qadir, a resident of Ghagra, Tehsil Gool, District Ramban.
He was carrying bovines to Valley by foot from Gool to dodge the police, but his designs were thwarted by the active cops of Khari police post.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Banihal police station and investigation started.
Police team led by Incharge police post Khari SI Shakeel Manhas made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Banihal police station Inspector Tariq Hussain Naik, SDPO Banihal Mohammad Rafiq and SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar.
It is to mention that, this is the third attempt of bovines smuggling in the past three days, which the District Police has foiled.
