108th birth anniversary of Lakshman Joo celebrated with fervour, gaiety

JAMMU, Apr 26: The 108th birth anniversary of Shaivachariya Iswar Swaroop Swami Lakshman Joo Maharaj, the last doyen of Kashmir Shaivism was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety today.
In this connection a grand function was organized at Ishwar Ashram Bhawan Mohinder Nagar, Canal Road here in which a large number of devotees drawn from different parts of Jammu participated.
The function started with hoisting of flag in the morning which was followed by recitation of Guru Stuti, Guru Vandana and presentation of Shrada Suman by the devotees.
The Bhajan Kirtan was also held on the occasion and entire Ashram premises were fully decorated by the devotees.
Swami Ji who is called as an incarnation of Acharya Abhinav Gupt, the renowned philosopher and scholar which the world has ever produced has contributed a lot in revival of Kashmir Shaivism and disseminating it in India and abroad.
It was his authority on the philosophy of Kashmir Shaivism that many people within India and outside were influenced by him and they became his devotees.
On the occasion a book and CD containing English explanation by Ishwar Swaroop Ji Maharaj of Sanskrit Tika by Shaivachariya Abhinav Gupt of Shrimad Bhagwat Gita Ji and Shiv Sutra in Kashmiri was also released by Vijay Bakaya, MLC.  He also threw open the Ashram Library where old manuscripts and books on Kashmiri Shaivism are kept.
This was followed by serving of Prashad to devotees. The function continued till late in the evening.
In connection with celebration of Swami Ji’s birthday the functions were also held at Swami Ji’s main ashram at Ishbar Nishat, Srinagar, Delhi Kendra, Sarita Vihar, Navi Mumbai Kendra and Kashmir Shaiva Fellowship, California.
In Jammu another function was held at Pushpati Mandir Sarwal in connection with celebration of Swami Ji’s birthday. The devotees rejoiced in the celebration, to the extent of divine ecstasy amid the chanting of  hymns to invoke the blessings of Swami Ji Maharaj.
The function started with Guru Puja followed by the recitation of Shalokas from Shaiv scriptures. A Bhajan Kirtan by a musical Kashmiri group was also organized.
The celebrations culminated in Sandhya Puja and prayers to Swami Ji Maharaj of the welfare of mankind.
