JAMMU, Oct 14: Organized by Department of Plastic Surgery, Amandeep Hospital, Amritsar, a three-day annual conference ‘Wound Carecon’ began today in Amritsar.
The conference was inaugurated by chief guest, Rajinder Mohan Chinna (Pro chancellor Khalsa University), Dr Kulwant Singh Vice Chancellor, Sri Guru Ramdas Institute of Medical Sciences and Research and Rajnish Aroroa (Ex Vice Chancellor, Punjab Technical University) were the guests of honor.
In the conference the major focus will be on National and international faculty covering a number of topics in wound care management and to apprise the juniors and postgraduate students of the latest developments in the field of wound management.
A special video session and workshop was conducted today on newer modalities of Wound Management. The scientific program was planned in such a manner that there was a perfect blend of the latest technological advances as well as time tested conventional wound care management protocols. More than 200 delegates from different specialties like Plastic Surgery, Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Internal Medicine and General Practitioners have been registered for the conference.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ravi Mahajan, president of Society for Wound Care & Research said, “The Primary goal of the wound care management is to provide ideal condition to repair the wound. Successful treatment of wounds requires assessment of the entire patient and not just the wound. Wound dressings should eliminate dead space, control exudates, prevent bacterial overgrowth, ensure proper fluid balance, be cost-efficient, and be manageable for the patient and/or nursing staff”.
