11-day long Ganesh festival celebrations culminate

JAMMU, Sept 8: The 11 -day long Ganesh Mahautsav culminated with immersion of Idols of Lord Ganesh in different rivers on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturdashi today in different parts of Jammu region.
In connection with immersion of the idols of Lord Ganesh processions by the devotees were taken up in different parts of city and outskirts.
The idols of Lord Ganesh were decorated on tractor trolleys and block carts and taken in a big procession for immersion in Chenab and Tawi rivers by devotees.
Earlier people performed Pooja during the Ganesh Mahautsav celebrations.
Celebrations were held at various places in old city, Gandhi Nagar, Talab Tillo, Bantalab, Patoli Brahmana, Satwari, Ganghyal, Bari Brahmana and other parts. The devotees during the celebrations besides pooja archana paid obeisance to Lord Ganesh. Pandals were installed at various places on which the idols of Lord Ganesh were decorated befitting the occasion by the devotees.
Reports of Ganesh Chaturdashi celebrations have also come from Udhampur, Akhnoor, Samba, Vijaypur, Basholi and Kathua.
At Kathua a grand function was organized in connection with the celebration of Ganesh Chaturdashi today.  Functions were held at different places in the town. But main function was held in Main Chowk Kathua and after performing pooja the immersion was performed in the canal at Kathua.
A large number of devotees participated in immersion ceremony.
