JAMMU, Nov 28: Two days 11th Open J&K State Sub-Junior, Cadet, Junior and Senior Kyorugi/ Poomsae Taekwondo Championship, organized by Jammu and & Kashmir Taekwondo Association in collaboration with J&K Sports Council concluded at new indoor complex, MA Stadium, here.
The championship was organized under the aegis of Taekwondo Federation of India recognized by Jammu and Kashmir Olympics Association, India Olympics Association.
Around 800 players and officials participated in this championship and players from the across J&K showcased their skills.
On the closing ceremony, Dr Saleem Ur Rehman DG Youth Services and Sports was the chief guest, who while speaking assured to provide help to the sports which uplift the caliber of an individual.
Guest of honor KP Tiwari Superintendent Narcotics and other guest including DN Pangotra President JKTA, Nisar Hussain Vice President JKTA, Satish Gupta Manager Indoor Complex, Himanshu Sharma Joint Secretary J&K High Court Bar Association, Ramesh Sharma Manager Brahman Sabha, Subash Shastri President National Mazdoor Sangh, HK Pangotra Retd AEE, Anil Wadhera Boxing Coach, Shamshu Din Athletic Coach, Pawan Grover, Proprietor Wonderland Gallery and Sadiq Khan Secretary Red Cross were also present.
From this Championship, the best junior team will be selected which will represent J&K in the forthcoming Junior Nationals to be held in Karnataka from December 5 to 8.
The technical team was headed by Atul Pangotra (NIS) TFI Chairman Referee Committee, International Referee with his team of officials as Sarbjeet Singh International Referee (Chandigarh), Sushil Kumar Sharma National Referee, Chand Mohd NR, Lalita NR, Zaheer Abbas, Tashi Tundup, PSS Head Harish Tokes Delhi and Operators Arif Khan, Sham Pratap Singh and Ashutosh Yadav.
The closing ceremony was hosted by Rajinder Singh from District Poonch.
In the championship, District Jammu emerged overall winner, while District Udhampur and District Poonch secured second and third runner-up positions.
The championship witnessed the active participation of girls from Kargil and boys from Samba. The sportsmen spirit was exhibited by Srinagar and CRPF players, while Farzana Batool of Kargil was declared as Best Female Player, Shekhar Singh from Jammu as Best Male Player and Naryan Dass from Udhampur as Best Coach.
In Sub Junior (male), Aryan Chandel of Jammu, Ridham Aggarwal of Jammu, Aazim Mushtaq of Srinagar, Abbas Wani of Srinagar, Vishvas Sudan of Poonch, Shourya Sharma of CRPF, Shivansh Bhagat of CRPF, Pranav Sharma of CRPF, Pranaya Mehra of Jammu, Rudra Jamwal of Udhampur, Raghav Jamwal of Udhampur and Suraj Singh of Udhampur clinched Gold medals in their respective weight categories, whereas in girls, Shruti Sharma of Jammu, Mehak Sharma of Jammu and Nishay Sharma of Udhampur clinched Golds medals in their respective weight categories.
In Cadet (male), Musharif Qayool of Baramulla, Mansoor Ali of Kargil, Achutam Dev Singh of Jammu, Vansh Gupta of CRPF, Dushyant of CRPF, Dhruv Jamwal of Udhampur and Zain Nazir of Srinagar clinched Gold medals in their respective weight categories, whereas in girls, Manya Dutta of Jammu, Randheer Kaur of Jammu, Manya Sharma of Udhampur, Sabia Mushtaq of Srinagar and Simmi Badyal bagged Gold medals in their respective categories.
In Junior (girls), Mansi Lalotra of Jammu, Farzana Batool of Kargil, Siya Saini of Jammu, Mahreen Bano of CRPF, Shanaz Parveen of Kargil, Sonia Banal of Udhampur and Sidhi Wali of Udhampur clinched Gold medals in their respective weight categories.
In Senior (male), Mohammad Syed Khan of Kargil, Syed Assad Hussain of Poonch, Bhanu Pratap Atri of Jammu, Sajad Farooq of Srinagar, Abhishek Manhas of Jammu, Vipin Kumar of Jammu, Sunil Vaid of Jammu, Shekhar Singh of Jammu and Ashutosh Patel of Jammu bagged Gold medals in their respective weight categories, where in girls, Jyoti Devi of Udhampur clinched Gold medal in her weight category.
