SAMBA, Nov 18: Ghagwal police rescued 12 bovine animals, while the accused managed to escape from the spot.
As per police sources, during the intervening night of November 17 and 18, a surprise naka was raised by a team from police station Ghagwal near Tapyal.
During checking, a truck bearing registration number JK02AS-8826 coming from Kathua was signaled to stop but the driver accelerated the vehicle and escaped from the spot.
Police party acting swiftly chased the truck and intercepted it near Nonath Ashram, Ghagwal. The driver taking advantage of darkness fled away from the spot.
During checking, 12 bovine animals were rescued from the vehicle. The truck and the bovine animals were seized.
A case under FIR Number 97/16 under Section 188 RPC and 2/3 PCA Act has been registered at police station Ghagwal and manhunt was launched to nab the accused.
Police team headed by SI Rajeshwar Singh rescued the bovine animals under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Samba Varinder Singh.
