126th Swami Nitya Nand Dangal held

Jammu, Jan 15 : The 126th Swami Nitya Nand Dangal was successfully organized by the Swami Nitya Nand Dangal Committee, attracting wrestlers from across the country, including local talent from the UT. The prestigious wrestling event witnessed intense competition, with a total of 62 bouts fought.
The highlight of the event was the first bout between Abinayak from Uttar Pradesh and Ram Dhan from Haryana. Abinayak emerged victorious, claiming the first prize of Rs 1,00,000. The second bout saw Sumit from Lapur battling Rashid from Domana Khada, with Sumit winning the second prize of Rs 51,000. In the third bout, Partik from Haryana defeated Rishu from Kathua to secure the third prize of Rs 31,000.
The event was graced by Dr. M.R. Attri, a renowned Laparoscopic Surgeon and Professor & Head of Surgery, Government of India, who served as the chief guest. Dr. Attri highlighted the significance of physical activities like wrestling in promoting a healthy lifestyle, especially among youth, as a means to deter them from engaging in harmful habits such as drug use.
The event also had the presence of esteemed guests, including Narinder Singh Antal, Sales and Taxation Officer of Udhampur-Reasi district, and Vinay Khajuria, Assistant Conservator of Forests, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Katra, who served as guests of honor.
Pritam Magotra, President of the Dangal Committee, along with other committee members, were also present, ensuring the smooth conduct of the event. The Dangal Committee reiterated its commitment to promoting traditional sports and nurturing local talent in wrestling.
