13 gamblers held with Rs 5,400 stake money

JAMMU, Jan 19: Police today arrested 13 gamblers and recovered Rs 5,400 stake money from their possession.
As per police sources, on specific inputs, police party from Gandhi Nagar police station led by SHO Rajinder Sharma and PSI Deepak Thakur conducted raid at Nanak Nagar and arrested eight gamblers along with Rs 3,200 stake money and playing cards.
The gamblers have been identified as Bhim Sahu, son of Jogi Ram, Bupit, son of Kali Charan, Kamlesh and Pappu, both sons of Bindra Ban, Suresh, son of Shiv Lal, Sunil Sahu, son of Avtar Sahu, Pintu, son of Gurung Sahu and Jeetu, son of Ram Krishan, all residents of Nanak Nagar.
A case under Section 13 Gambling Act has been registered at Gandhi Nagar police station and investigation started.
Meanwhile, police team from Peer Mitha police station led by Probationer DySP Rayees Ahmed Mir during patrolling near DC Office arrested five gamblers and recovered Rs 2,200 bet money and playing cards from the spot.
The gamblers have been identified as Mohammad Danish, Khalid, Asif Choudhary, Akib Rashid and Afayat Rasool.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Peer Mitha police station and investigation started.
