JAMMU, May 28: The 13th Jammu District Fencing Championship was declared open today at Dewan Badri Nath Vidya Mandir School Hall Talab Tillo, here.
The Championship is being organized by the Jammu District Fencing Association in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council.
Around 200 fencers including boys and girls of different schools are participating in different age groups.
The Championship was declared open by M J Sharma, president J&K Amateur fencing Association and Baljit Singh, Principal DBN School.
Rashid Ahmed, prominent fencer and member J&K State Sports Council was present on the occasion.
Rich tributes were paid to late Kamal Nanda, Director Academics of DBN Vidya Mandir, Who has played an important and significant role to promote fencing in the State.
The Championship is being conducted by Shottu lal Sharma and Rachna Jamwal, fencing coaches alongwith senior fencers including Ajay Khatrol, Ujjwal Gupta, Maninder Pal, Ranchan Sabarwal, Shivani Hans, Dimple Thappa, Pritam Slathia and Monika.
