13th Open State Fencing Championship gets underway

JAMMU, Mar 30: 13th Open State Fencing Championship for Boys and Girls got underway at Indoor Sports Complex, M.A Stadium, here today .
M J Sharma, president of the Association inaugurated the Championship in presence of Rajan Sharma, Divisional Sports Officer, Mohinder Sharma, general secretary and other office bearers of the Association.
Vying for the top honours, around 180 fencers including girls and boys drawn from the districts of  Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur, Reasi and Rajouri and various clubs like DBN, Fencing Club, Royal Fencing Club and Friends Fencing Club participated in the Championship.
The Championship is being organized by J&K Amateur Fencing Association in collaboration with J&K State Sports Council. The two-day Championship will conclude tomorrow.
Today’s results:
U-17 Epee Boys: Rajan of Udhampur district bagged gold while Muzmel of district Reasi clinched silver medal. However, Kamal and Sayam claimed bronze medals.
U-17 Foil Boys: Rahul Prashar of Udhampur district clinched gold medal while Prashant Chib of district Reasi bagged silver medal. However, Saksham Gupta of Jammu and Aryan Chander of Reasi bagged bronze medals.
Open Sabre Girls: Priya Khajuria of Jammu district clinched gold while Mokshi Sharma of Kathua bagged silver medal. Jaspreet Kour and Nitika of Jammu bagged bronze medals.
