*Hills View Rajouri clinches title

KATHUA, Jan 8: The 13th Police Martyrs Memorial North Zone T-20 Cricket Championship concluded at the Sports Stadium in Kathua, today with a thrilling final match. Hills View Rajouri triumphed over Verma Sports Club Ludhiana by 47 runs to claim the championship title.
The event was graced by Anand Jain, Additional Director General of Police, Jammu Zone, who was the chief guest, Shiv Kumar Sharma, DIG JSK Range, was the guest of honour. They were welcomed by Shobhit Saxena, SSP Kathua, who gave a brief overview of the tournament. Other senior police officers and dignitaries included Rakesh Minhas, Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Nasir Khan, SP Operations Border Kathua and Rahul Charak, Additional SP Kathua. The ceremony also witnessed the presence of various sponsors and contributors from the local community.
The final match saw Hills View Rajouri batting first after winning the toss. The team set a challenging target of 163 runs, scoring 162 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their 20 overs. Puneet, the captain of Hills View Rajouri, played a key role by scoring 50 runs off 48 balls, including 6 boundaries and 1 six. Shiva Singh also contributed with a solid 33 runs off 29 balls, with 4 boundaries and 1 six.
Verma Sports Club Ludhiana struggled to chase the target and was all out for 115 runs in 17.5 overs, handing Hills View Rajouri a 47-run victory.
Puneet was named as man of the match for his crucial 50-run performance, earning a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 along with a trophy. Bhagwinder from Verma Sports Club Ludhiana was declared the “Player of the Tournament” who received a Maruti Alto K10 car. Jadarth of L.B. Shastri Delhi was recognized as the Best Bowler for his outstanding performance, while Rishant Kohli from Hills View Rajouri won the Best Batsman award for being the tournament’s top scorer. Both Jadarth and Rishant were awarded motorcycles for their impressive performances.
The Hills View Rajouri team lifted the championship trophy and received a cash prize of Rs 3.5 lakh. The Verma Sports Club Ludhiana team, as the runner-up, was awarded a cash prize of Rs 2.5 lakh along with medals. ADGP and other dignitaries paid floral tributes and interacted with the families of the martyrs, presenting them with gifts as a gesture of respect and gratitude.
