NEW DELHI: As many as 14 Indian families led by Ambanis, who were ranked third with a net worth of Rs 21.5 billion dollar, have made it to the inaugural list of Forbes’ 50 richest families in Asia.
The other Indian families in the top ten richest Asian business dynasties include the Premji family, ranked 7th with a net worth of 17 billion dollar, and the Mistry family at the 10th place with 14.9 billion dollar.
Also included in the coveted list are Godrej family at 15th place with a fortune of 11.4 billion dollar, ArcelorMittal group’s Mittals at 19th with 10.1 billion dollar, Birlas 22nd with 7.8 billion dollar, Bajajs 29 th with 5.6 billion dollar, Dabur India’s Burmans 30th with 5.5 billion, Cadila Healthcare’s Patels 33rd with 4.8 billion dollar and Eicher Group’s Lals at 40th with 4 billion dollar.
Shree Cement’s Bangur family was placed at 42nd rank with a net worth of 3.9 billion dollar, Jindal family 43rd with 3.8 billion dollar, Munjal family 46th with 3.2 billion dollar and Cipla’s Hamieds at the 50th place with a fortune of 2.9 billion dollar.
The overall list was topped by Lees of Samsung Group, whose 2014 revenues were equivalent to 22 per cent of South Korea’s GDP. The barrier to entry was 2.9 billion dollar and valuations are based on stock prices and exchange rates as on September 25, Forbes said. (AGENCIES)
