SRINAGAR, Oct 2: The 14th District Srinagar Taekwondo Championship 2024-25 concluded at the Sher-e- Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex here today. Organized by the Taekwondo Association of District Srinagar with the support of the J&K Taekwondo Association and J&K Sports Council, the event drew a strong turnout of around 150 athletes from various schools and clubs across the district.
Athletes competed in Sub-Junior, cadets, junior and senior categories for both boys and girls. The championship served as a platform for young Taekwondo enthusiasts to showcase their skills and compete for the chance to represent District Srinagar at the upcoming 27th J&K UT Taekwondo Championship 2024-25.
The closing ceremony was graced by Dr Basharat Ali, Assistant Director of the Directorate of Physical Education at Kashmir University, who, as the chief guest, delivered an encouraging speech to the athletes, motivating them to pursue excellence in Taekwondo.
The event was expertly managed under the leadership of Junaid Mayer, Secretary of the Taekwondo Association of District Srinagar and Harish Tokas, an International Coach appointed by the J&K Taekwondo Association. The referee panel consisted of highly experienced officials, including Burhan Ud Din Khan, Suhail Ahmed, Zain Nazir, Hashim Majeed and Suvaid, ensuring fair and competitive matches.
Rajesh Pangotra, President of JKTA and Ramesh Kumar Chandra expressed their gratitude to J&K Sports Council for their support in making the championship a success.
