16 Vaishno Devi pilgrims injured as minibus travelling to Katra falls in ditch

JAMMU: Amini-bus carrying 16 pilgrims from the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine met with an accident near Chenani in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district late Saturday night.
The driver of the vehicle reportedly lost control and the minibus overturned near the Chenani-Nashri Tunnel.
All 16 pilgrims were injured in the accident and have been shifted to the nearest hospital in Chenani. The injured pilgrims are from Delhi’s Rohini area.
The mini-bus was on its way to Katra base camp from hill station Patnitop. The tourists had gone to Panitop after performing their pilgrimage at the Vaishno Devi shrine.
However, while returning to Katra from Patnitop, the mini-bus they were travelling in overturned and fell into a 15-feet ditch.
DC Udhampur Piyush Singla among the injured passengers is a child who suffered a fracture in his ribs and an adult who sustained an arm fracture.
