JAMMU, July 28: 15th J&K State Sport Climbing Championship will be organized by Mountaineering Association of J&K in collaboration with Sprawling Buds School, Lakshmi Puram, Chinore on August 7 and 8.
About 200 climbers from various districts of the State including Jammu, Udhampur, Reasi, Samba,Kathua, Anantnag, Pulwama,Srinagar, Poonch and Rajouri will vie for top honors in the two day competition.
In case the participation exceeds 200 climbers, preliminary rounds of certain categories for Jammu district will be conducted a day earlier.
The competitions will be conducted on the pre fabricated 40ft high Tenzing Norgay Sport Climbing Wall in Sprawling Buds School premises.
The competitions will be held in eight categories of Men, Women ( born in 1998 and earlier), Boys, Girls (born in 1999, 2000,2001), Sub Jr. Boys / Girls (born in 2002 and 2003) and Mini Boys / Girls( born in 2004 and after).
While Men, Women, Boys and Girls will compete both in ‘lead climbing’ and ‘speed climbing’, the Sub Junior and Mini Boys and Girls will participate in ‘lead climbing’ only.

A qualified national judge in sport climbing , Shawetica Khajuria will be the president of the jury of the competition, while technical and logistic support will be provided by Indian Mountaineering Foundation North Zone Committee, New Delhi.
The championship will be sponsored by J&K State Sports Council.
