REASI, July 19: General Zorawar Singh Memorial Committee organized a function to observe the 165th birth anniversary of Maharaja Pratap Singh at Sanjog Ghar, here today.
On the occasion, MLA Reasi Advocate Ajay Nanda was the chief guest.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Ajatshatru Singh (MLC BJP), Ajay Nanda (MLA Reasi), R S Pathania (MLA, Ramnagar) Balwant Singh Mankotia (Ex.MLA Udhampur), Naryaan Singh Jamwal (President Amar Rajput Sabha Jammu) and Kuldeep Raj Dubay (BJP leader).
Speaking on the occasion, Nanda said that such commemorative functions are the opportune moments to educate the younger generations about the great past and the glorious history of the place.
He said that Govt should organize programmes to educate the children to commemorate such rarest occasions by recognizing meritorious public services and disseminating information about such great personalities.
Ajatshatru Singh said that efforts are required to preserve the fast fading and decaying cultural identities whereas R S Pathania MLA Ramnagar demanded that the name of District hospital Reasi should be given the name of Maharaja Pratap Singh.
Mr Mankotia also spoke on the occasion and said that the Govt should organize programmes on glorious past.
