16th J&K State Taekwondo C’ship concludes, Bhalla distributes prizes

JAMMU, June 1: Jammu and Kashmir Taekwondo Association organized “16th J&K State (Sub-Junior/ Cadet) Kyorugi/ Poomsae Taekwondo Championship 2014”  and 4th  Open J&K State Taekwondo Championship 2014” (Juniors /Seniors), which concluded at Dogra Brahmin Pratinidhi Sabha, Parade, here today.
The Championship was held under the aegis of Taekwondo Federation of India, recognized by Jammu and Kashmir Olympics Association, India Olympics Association, Ministry of Youth affairs and Sports and Govt of India.
Around 400 players/officials are participating in this Championship and players from the all the 22 Districts of Jammu and Kashmir State showcased their skills.
Raman Bhalla, Minister for Sports was the chief guest on the occasion, who while speaking on the occasion congratulated all the participants/organizers and wished more achievements to this sport in future. Ashutosh Sharma, Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Olympic Association, H S Bali, Sectary General  Handball Federation of India, Raneet Kalra, Member BCCI were the guests of honour on the occasion.
The championship was presided over by Master Sundemani Patel (International Referee) from Chandigarh as Observer from Taekwondo Federation of India, so that the championship may be conducted in a smooth and fair manner.
The technical team was headed by Atul Pangotra (NIS) International Referee and the team of officials included Rajat Thakur, Mukta Gupta,Barinder Singh Manhas, Rohit Sharma, Sunil  Singh, Burhan-ud-Din, Mohd Ali Baghee, Zaheer Abbas Khan  (National Referees), Mohd Saud Bhat, Rahul Singh Chib, Arvind Satti, Pankaj, Narinder Sharma, Nitish and Rajesh Sharma.
The Championship was organized under the Chairmanship of P C Sharma, president J&K Taekwondo Association and  D N Pangotra, General Secretary, J&K Taekwondo Association.
Overall trophy was won by District Jammu, while District Srinagar bagged second spot and  District Kathua claimed the third position.
