17 bovines rescued, one arrested

KATHUA, May 15: Hiranagar police today rescued 17 bovine animals and arrested a smuggler while his associates managed to escape.
A police spokesman said, a police party of police post Sanyal laid a naka at Nallah Bana Chack Sanyal and arrested a bovine smuggler, who has been identified as Abdul Shabir Ahmad, son of Nisher Din, a resident of Rakh Barotian, tehsil Vijaypur, district Samba, who was smuggling the milch animals from Jammu to Punjab.
“17 bovine animals were rescued and manhunt has been launched to nab the associates of the arrested accused”, he added.
A case under FIR number 62/14 under Section 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act stand registered at police station Hiranagar and investigation started.
