18 kg poppy straw seized from truck, driver arrested

UDHAMPUR, July 28: Continuing its drive against narcotics and drugs, Udhampur police today seized 18 kg of poppy straw from a truck, which was on way from Kashmir.
Based on reliable information, a police party under the command of Inspector Sanjeev Gupta, SHO Udhampur, laid a surprise naka at Jakheni NHW and intercepted a truck bearing registration number PB09X – 7105. During the search of said vehicle, 18 kg poppy straw was recovered.
Police seized the poppy straw and also arrested the truck driver Manjeet Singh, son of Jaswant Singh of Thathi Khara, Tarantaran, Punjab.
In this connection, case FIR number 343/2017 under section 8/15 NDPS Act was registered at police station Udhampur and further investigation was going on.
