18 passengers rescued from snow bound Sinthan Top

KISHTWAR, May 19: Police rescued 18 passengers and evacuated 6 trapped vehicles from snow bound Sinthan Top.
As per police spokesman, the Sinthan Top during the last midnight and early morning received intermittent fresh snowfall and heavy rains. Due to the fresh snowfall and incessant rains around six vehicles with 18 passengers got badly trapped in the second road curve on this side of Sinthan Top.
He added that on receiving the news of trapping of vehicles and passengers including some females and minor children, the police immediately swung into action.
“On the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar Abrar Chowdhary, SHO Police Station Chatroo Inspector Mohammad Bashir managed 2 JCBs machines and reached the spot alongwith police rescue teams. The police got the track cleared and after a lot of hard work has rescued all the 18 passengers and evacuated all the 6 trapped vehicles”, spokesman added.
He stated that Airtel and Jio mobile companies during the processes of cable lying have badly damaged the Sinthan road. These companies have violated all the rules and have virtually ploughed the road turning it into a heap of debris, he said, adding that the police is going to take a stern action against these companies for damaging public property and throwing the life of people/passengers into death traps.
