JAMMU, Dec 30: The 18th Christmas Gold Cup Football Tournament 2024-25 began with great enthusiasm at the Mini Stadium Parade Ground, here today. The event was inaugurated by BJP leader and MLA Jammu East, Yudhvir Sethi, and organized by the All J&K Sports & Culture Welfare Association under the aegis of the J&K Football Association.
The opening match saw an outstanding performance by Pegasus FC, who defeated United FC Ladakh with a dominant score of 7-0. Star player Samad scored a hat-trick, with goals in the 15th, 25th, and 50th minutes. Illiyas netted two goals in the 16th and 26th minutes, while Rizwan found the back of the net in the 46th minute. Mahi added a goal in the 68th minute to complete the victory.
Yudhvir Sethi lauded the organizers for their dedication to nurturing football talent and promoting sports in the region. The inauguration was attended by several dignitaries, including Hemant, digital in-charge of St. Paul Church; Anil Gupta, Senior Vice President of CCI Jammu; Rajesh Gupta, Secretary CCI Jammu; and community leaders like Kuldeep Singh, Surinder Singh, Anil Masoom, Ramesh Chander, David, Yousuf, Rajesh Sumbria, Kamaljeet Kumar, Peter, Mohd Shuja and Saudagar Mattoo.
