JAMMU: As many as 19 candidates, including state BJP chief Jugal Kishore and sitting Congress MP Madan Lal Sharma, remain in the fray from the Jammu parliamentary constituency after five out of 24 nomination papers submitted were rejected today.
Returning Officer for the Jammu Lok Sabha seat Ajeet Kumar Sahu after scrutinising 24 nominations forms filed by candidates rejected five nominations, an official spokesman said here tonight.
Those who remain in the fray are Ashok Kumar (BSP), Jugal Kishore (BJP), Madan Lal Sharma (Congress), Hari Chand Jalmeria (Jammu & Kashmir National Panthers Party), Yashpal Sharma (Jammu & Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party), Bahadur Singh Chowdhary (Samajwadi Party), Subhash Chander (All J&K Kissan Majdoor Party), Gursagar Singh (Socialistic Democratic Party), Mehar Manav Bhagat (Bharatiya Bahajun Party), and ten Independents — Ashok Kumar, Perseen Singh, Raj Kumar, Satish Poonchi, Abdul Majid Chouhan, Laboo Ram, Mohd. Abbas Khan, Mohd. Imtiaz, Nirmal Singh and Vijay Kumar.
