JAMMU, Feb 15: The Jammu Police, under the guidance of DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range, Shiv Kumar Sharma and under the supervision of SSP (SO to DIG) Rajinder Singh Katoch, organized a 5-kilometer marathon as part of the ongoing “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan” at RS Pura, today. The event aimed to raise awareness against drug abuse and promote a healthy lifestyle.
The marathon, which commenced from Bana Singh Stadium, saw enthusiastic participation from over 300 individuals, including students from local colleges, street vendors, drivers and members of the SKUAST Morning Walkers Association. The event witnessed participants from all age groups, with women playing an active role.
Katoch addressed the crowd, emphasizing the importance of sports in keeping youth fit, healthy, and away from negative influences like drugs. He also warned drug traffickers of strict legal action.
Winners were awarded cash prizes, medals and T-shirts, with Naresh Choudhary securing first place. The event concluded with appreciation from the community for the Jammu Police’s efforts to engage youth in positive activities. The presence of local dignitaries, including SDPO RS Pura Nikhil Gogna and other police officers, ensured the smooth conduct of the event.
