JAMMU, Nov 14: The first Annual Mountain Megathon-SKY101, organised by Skyview by Empyrean, concluded at Skyview World Patnitop, here today.
The first phase of the 2-day event was flagged off by DC Udhampur Indu Kanwal Chib which witnessed cyclists from Kerala, Bihar, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, and Jammu and Kashmir.
Vivekanand Rai, Director Tourism Jammu flagged off today’s running events at 8 am. Speaking at the event, Rai said, “Jammu Tourism extends its full support to such events in the region. These events are essential for physical well-being and promoting sports & tourism. Jammu has vast potential for similar initiatives and we look forward to working closely with Skyview by the Empyrean team to support and facilitate more events in the future.”
Skyview by Empyrean celebrated Children’s Day by organizing Run for Fun, which had 150 plus enthusiastic young participants from Government Degree College Chenani, Higher Secondary School Kud, Higher Secondary School Dhanas, Higher Secondary School Chenani, and Kendriya Vidyalaya Chenani.
The winners of the several event categories were facilitated and awarded with trophies in an award ceremony.
Farooq Khan, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Vivekanand Rai, Director Tourism Jammu, Ghazanfar Ali, Director Youth & Sports, and Nuzhat Gul, Secretary JK Sports Council as well as Sher Singh, Chief Executive Officer, PDA graced the event with their presence.
Congratulating the winners, Advisor Khan said, “I express my congratulations and wishes to all the winners and finishers of SKY101. Such an event significantly helps in boosting the positive image and tourism in UT.
“These events also gave an opportunity to local youth to rub shoulders with athletes of national and international stature. I also want to take this opportunity to tell you all present here that we will leave no stone unturned to promote such events in the future,” Khan said.
SKY101 is the first-of-its-kind event in India, testing athletes on their multi-discipline sports endurance-cycling and running in mountain trails. Participants from across India tested their skills and endurance levels on the rough terrain of the Himalayan foothills while competing for glory, cash prizes and more. All the cycling/ running participants got an event jersey, finisher’s medal and refreshment.
In SKY101, Devender Kumar, AS Bisht & J Singh stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively, while in SKYRIDE 80, Shiven, David Kumar & Vijjay Prakash clinched top three places respectively and in SKYRUN21, first three places were clinched by Manohar Lal, Rajinder Singh & Ankush Kumar respectively, besides in SKY40, Manav Radha, Anish Dubey & Subodh Verma stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively, while in SKY30, top three places were secured by Adnan Bashir, Mansoor Ahmed Sheer Gojrie & Parvez Ahmed Mir.
In SKY10 (male), Akshay Sharma, Aran Chandel & Manikandan M bagged top three places, while in SKY10 (female), 1st, 2nd and 3rd places were clinched by Menasha Devi, Anisa Nabi & Shapali Devi respectively.
Syed Junaid Altaf, Managing Director Empyrean Skyview Projects Private Limited congratulated all the winners and finishers of SKY101. “I also want to thank our partners and sponsors for their valuable support, without whom the event would not be a success,” he said.
