KARGIL, Sept 12: Ladakh Spikers Club lifted the first District Volleyball Championship by defeating United Shakar Chiktan Club in the open category and Friends Baltistan Hardass won the under 19 Category by defeating Ladakh Spikers Junior here, today.
The Championship was organized by the District Volleyball Association, Kargil under the aegis of the Ladakh Volleyball Association at Khree Sultan Choo Sports Stadium Kargil.
A total of 32 teams participated in the tournament in open and under 19 category.
On this occasion, Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan was the chief guest and DYSSO Kargil Mohammad Hussain Rehnuma was the guest of Honour.
Feroz Ahmad Khan appreciating the organizing committee said that it’s the first official Volleyball Championship which was conducted in a very professional manner and assured all possible help by the LAHDC Kargil to Sports Association.
He further added that LAHDC Kargil is focusing on the development of adequate sports infrastructure in the district some of the ongoing projects are Poyen Play Ground, Goma Kargil Play Ground, international Ice Hockey Stadium, Astro Truff and Synthetic Track Stadium at Kurbathang etc.
Feroz Ahmad Khan thanked the Local Sponsors of the event particularly the Spartan Company for officially sponsoring the Championship which will pave way for others to help the Sports Association in the district to conduct such events successfully.
Mohd Baqir Organizing Secretary of the District Volleyball Association thanked the support of President Ladakh Volleyball Association Haji Mirza Hussain.
Later Feroz Ahmad Khan and other guests distributed trophies, momentous and medals among the players and guests.
