RAJOURI, July 3: A first ever Arm Wrestling Championship for different categories was organized in Thannamandi here today.
In the competition, more than 60 players participated from different areas of Rajouri and Poonch districts. The event held in 50-55 kg weight category was won by Hassan Ganai, 55-60 kg by Faizan Hameed, 60-65 kg by Rohaan Shawl and 65-70 kg by Divyansh. The event in Right Arm Open category was won by Nitish Sharma and Left Arm Open was won by Ansab Khan.
Shafiq Ahmed Mir (SDM Thannamandi) was the chief guest on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, he appreciated the organizing team for conducting such events in Thannamandi and giving opportunities to locals for participating in such sports activities. Guests of honour– Shakeel Mir (Chairman MC Thannamandi) and Tehsildar Thannamandi Sahil Ali Shah asked youth to participate in games and keep themselves physically and mentally fit. Imran Khan (president, Press Council Thannamandi) was also present on the occasion.
The Championship was organized by Ansab Khan whereas prominent members of civil society including Faisal Hayat, Bashir Ahmed Wani, Mushtaq Ahmed Thaker, Nazir Ahmed Shawl and Akleem Mir were also present on the occasion.
