1st ever International Jazz concert on Mar 17

JAMMU, Mar 13: First ever International Jazz concert by a group from Poland is being held here on March 17, 2013 by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.
This was informed here today by the Regional Director of ICCR, Balwant Thakur at a press briefing, which was held at its Regional Headquarters, here.
Elaborating more on the event, Thakur informed that New Bone Polish Jazz Band is coming to Jammu all way from Krakow (Poland) on an invitation of Indian Council for Cultural Relations to perform in Jammu at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, Jammu on coming Sunday at 5.30 pm for the invited audience. The entry to the show has been kept free.
This is going be the life-time opportunity for the music lovers of the State to witness this world class happening here in Jammu, he added.
Giving details of the visiting group of Poland, Thakur informed that Jazz quintet from Krakow was formed in 1996 by the initiative of trumpeter Tomasz Kudyk. The breakthrough moment in the band’s carrier was recording of the debut album ”Something for now” in 2004 with Gowi Records Studio, which included the author’s compositions of the leader of the band – Tomasz Kudyk. The record was warmly received both by the critics and the listeners.
New Bone Band performed on numerous important festivals, such as: Bydgoszcz Jazz Festiwal (2009), Hanza Jazz Festiwal (Koszalin 2009), Festiwal Jazz Bez… (Przemy), Lviv – Ukraine – 2009), Festiwal Jazz w Muzeum (Ostrów Wielkopolski 2009), JVC Jazz Festival (Legionowo 2005) and International Festival of Polish Jazz Stars (Moscow, Russia 2013).
