1st Sudershan Mahajan Memorial Indoor Cricket Tournament commences at KCSC

JAMMU, Dec 8: The inaugural edition of the Sudershan Mahajan Memorial Inter-School Indoor Cricket Tournament 2015, sponsored by the Management of KC Public School got underway at KC Sports Club, here today.
The opening function was held inside the State of Art Indoor Cricket Hall of the Club.
Sukhnandan Kumar, Minister for Public Health, Engineering and Irrigation and Flood Control was the chief guest on the occasion.
The function began with lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the chief guest, accompanied by Siddhant Chowdhary, Member of School Management and Amarendra Kumar Mishra, Principal of the School.
Cricket teams of KC Public School and Dewan Badrinath School who played the opening match were also lined up at the lamp lighting ceremony performed in front of the audience of about 400 students of KC Public School. After the ceremony, the School choir group presented an inspirational song.
In his inaugural address, the chief guest advised the budding sportsmen to channelize their energies into games and sports and expressed his concern for some young people getting trapped into the net of substance misuse and drug addiction.
He added that parents have an ethical responsibility to give positive direction to the lives of their children and to motivate them to play games for health and recreation.
In the first match of the tournament played after the function, KCPS won the toss and decided to field first. DBN team batted somewhat over-cautiously and was able to make only 24 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 10 overs. Vishal and Jatinder contributed 5 and 4 runs respectively to their paltry score. Yuvraj of KCPS took 3 wickets, while Tanzeem and Aryan shared 2 wickets each.
The DBN challenge was so feeble that KCPS overtook them in just 4 overs at the loss of one wicket. Yuvraj scored 15 runs and Tanzeem and Sparsh added 4 and 3 runs respectively to the small target. The only wicket to fall went to Surat of DBN team.
