2 arrested with 170 kg poppy straw

KATHUA, Dec 27: A trucker and his associate have been arrested along with 170 kilograms of poppy straw.
As per police sources, based on reliable information, the sleuths of Excise and Police Department intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number PB10FF-8499, which was on its way to Punjab.
During checking, the sleuths recovered 170 kilograms of poppy straw beneath apple boxes and arrested the driver along with his associate.
The accused have been identified as Randhir Singh, son of Swarn Singh of Ludhiana, Punjab and Gurjreet Singh, son of Boria Singh of Punjab.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at concerned police station and investigation started.
The whole operation was conducted by the team of Excise Department comprising Rohit Sharma, Excise and Taxation Officer, Anil Kumar and Rakesh Chopra, Inspectors, Ajay Kumar, Sub-Inspector, Barkit Ali, Excise Guard and the Police Department comprising Rachpal Singh ASI, Kuldeep Kumar Sgct and Jagesh Kumar Constable.
