RAJOURI, Oct 8: While the police today arrested two more youth, said to be BJYM activists from a city in Punjab in connection with the alleged attack on two youth in Rajouri on October 4, a complete bandh was observed in the town here to mark protest against the administration on the third consecutive day today.
Police sources said that after getting some clue from the associates of these two youth, the police party from Rajouri managed to trace the location of these two wanted accused persons and nabbed them with the help of Punjab Police from a hotel this evening. Both were being brought to Rajouri. When senior police officials were contacted, they tried to maintain silence over the matter. The son of senior BJP leader of Rajouri was said to be still at large.
Meanwhile, a bandh was observed in the township of Rajouri on the third consecutive day on the call given by Vishav Hindu Parishad, Sanatan Dharam Sabha, BJYM and some other organizations. The shops and other business establishments remained closed while vehicles remained plying on the road as usual while the schools and colleges are functioning normally. The general public is facing hardships in view of the bandh. The District Administration has imposed Section 144 in the town prohibiting the people to take out any protest demonstration, sensing outbreak of any communal tension. However, it miserably failed to prevent a large gathering and protest at Gujjar Mandi this afternoon.
Many shops and business establishments remained closed in the town in protest against police and local administration. The members of these bodies are demanding release of arrested BJYM activists and fair investigation into the case. They alleged that after clash with the youth from two communities, the police has turned biased and favouring one community. They also alleged that some youth from one community were being harassed while those who resorted to hurl stones on RSS activists were not arrested.
Meanwhile, during a meeting of various bodies held at Rajouri this evening, it was resolved to continue bandh tomorrow on the 4th consecutive day in the town.
